Sunlight Thila

Sunlight Thila is a shallow reef site off Malé that features a sunlit pinnacle (thila) rising from a sandy bottom. The top of the thila sits around a few meters depth, with deeper sections tending toward the 10–20 meter range for broader exploration. Marine life commonly includes soft corals, small reef fish, damsels, fusiliers, parrotfish, and occasional larger visitors like whitetip reef sharks in appropriate zones. The site is typically accessible by short boat rides from Malé and offers straightforward navigation with gentle currents, making it suitable for beginners and for macro or drift-focused dives depending on conditions. Entry is from a sandy surface, with a gentle descent to the structure, followed by exploration along the coral ridges and sandy patches surrounding the pinnacle.
