Gulhi Falhu

Giraavaru Caves

Giraavaru Caves is a rugged reef and cave dive site in the Maldive atoll system. Located near Gulhi Falhu and Malé, access is typically via liveaboard or local dhoni boats from Malé. The site comprises a network of swim-throughs and small passages within stony reef formations with gentle to moderate currents. Depths are generally shallow to mid-range, often from a few meters down to around 18 meters, making it suitable for qualified beginner to intermediate divers with proper buoyancy control. Expect clear tropical water, abundant coral cover, and a variety of reef fish, wrasses, and small pelagics. As with many Maldivian cave-like systems, lines and openings may present entanglement hazards; always dive with a guide and follow local safety procedures. The site offers a mix of macro and reef life amid intricate limestone caverns, with opportunities to explore caverns that create shaded swim-through environments. Local conditions vary with tides and weather; plan dives with a licensed operator.
