Potato Reef

Potato Reef is a shallow reef site near Malé and Gulhi Falhu in the Malé atoll, offering straightforward diving for varied experience levels. The site typically features a sloping rubble and coral-head topography with gentle drop-offs, gentle currents, and clear water conditions typical of the central atolls. Expect a mosaic of hard and soft corals, educational macro life around the structure, and a variety of reef fishes such as damselfish, parrotfish, triggerfish, and small reef sharks on occasion. Visibility is commonly good, and the site is easily accessible from nearby land hubs, making it a convenient option for a half- to full-day Maldives itinerary. As with many atoll sites, plan for modest currents and plan your safety stops accordingly.
