Mv Karwela (Wreck)

MV Karwela (Wreck) is a famous offshore wreck dive site in the Maltese waters. The former passenger-cargo ship rests on a sandy bottom at a depth that varies with current, typically accessed via a controlled descent from a nearby anchor line or mooring. The wreck lies upright and offers a straightforward exterior swim-around with ample structure for photos, as well as opportunities to explore intact deck areas and openings into her holds. Expect marine life typical of Maltese wrecks: groupers, damselfish, wrasse, barracudas, and occasional octopus or moray. Visibility is often good but can vary with weather and current; currents can be present, making drift-style entries common from a guide. The site is popular with trained divers due to penetration opportunities and the interesting hull features.
