La Grotte Du Cnrs

la Grotte du CNRS is a sheltered coastal cave dive near Cassis, within reach of Marseille. The site features a shallow entrance leading into a sandstone-overhang system with clear, calm waters typical of the Sinistral littoral. Divers explore a series of narrow passages and a larger chamber that opens at around 6–14 meters depth, making it suitable for entry-level cave-style diving with good buoyancy skills. Visibility is usually moderate to good, and the dive is characterized by smooth walls, scattered sponges and tunicates, and occasional young fish. Access is straightforward from the coast, with calm sea conditions on appropriate days. The site is part of the Cassis-Calanques coastal zone, a popular area for close-to-shore exploration and training dives.
