Sharm El Sheikh is Egypt’s well-known Red Sea scuba hub on the Gulf of Aqaba. Most diving is done from boats to nearby reefs, drift sections, and wall/drop-off sites, with plenty of sheltered spots close to shore for relaxed dives. Visibility is often strong, and water temperatures stay warm for much of the year, though currents can vary by day and site. Divers commonly see reef fish, hard and soft corals, and frequent opportunities for turtles and sometimes pelagics depending on the dive location. The city is also a practical base for multi-day itineraries, with many dive centers running regular check-out dives, courses, and equipment rental.
