Pillar Coral

Pillar Coral is a Caribbean reef dive site off Roatán known for its tall, columnar stony corals and a healthy surrounding seafloor. The site is typically shallow, with gentle to moderate currents that suit intermediate to experienced divers following a standard entry from the reef. Divers usually begin on a sloping drop-off that leads to a garden of pillar corals, with a mix of hard corals, soft corals, and a variety of reef fish. Common sightings include parrotfish, angelfish, fusiliers, damselfish, and groupers, with occasional moray eels and spiny lobsters. Visibility is commonly good in clear Caribbean waters, and the site can be combined with nearby Roatán reefs to form a relaxed half-day dive itinerary. Access is straightforward from Roatán’s coastline, and many dive centers in town offer shore or boat dives to Pillar Coral.
