Key Largo

Key Largo is a major scuba diving gateway on Florida’s Atlantic side, close to the Florida Keys and the reef system that drops into deep blue water. From the docks in town, most dives are by boat to reef walls, drop-offs, and wrecks, with conditions that can be clear on good days. Visibility and currents vary by season, so check the day’s site plan with local centers. Marine life commonly includes reef fish, sea turtles, and rays; depending on the site and time, you may also see occasional pelagics. It’s also a practical base for divers doing multiple days of open-water dives, training, or specialty courses, with many centers offering equipment rental, guided trips, and shore options when conditions allow.
