Velassaru Cave

Velassaru Cave is a gentle topography site offshore from the Velassaru area, characterized by a sea cave formed in a shallow reef system. Divers approach the cave through clear, warm water with typical tropical visibility and calm conditions, making it suitable for recreational divers with basic experience. The cave offers sheltered entrances and a shallow to mid-depth tunnel with gentle current possibilities. Expect vibrant tropical reef life in the surrounding reef community, including small reef fish, damselfish, parrotfish, and occasional larger species cruising along the edge of the shelf. Entry is via a calm, taught-to-boat ascent/descent near the cave mouth, with a shallow exit to the reef beyond. Local access points are nearby Velassaru and Malé, with boat transfers common for resort-based dive operations.
