1000 Steps

Thousand Steps (16)

Thousand Steps (16) is a shallow reef site near the 1000 Steps area along the coast. The dive typically features a gently sloping bottom with bommies and stringing coral heads, suitable for entry-level to intermediate divers depending on sea state. Expect clear to moderate visibility and typical Caribbean reef life, including small reef fish, secretary blennies, angelfish, and possibly turtles or small eagle rays on calmer days. Access is straightforward from the nearby shore; local operators often stage short boat or shore dives from the Kalifornia/ Bonaire area, with currents usually mild but can pick up at depth. The site lies within easy reach of Kralendijk and is commonly combined with neighboring sites such as Karpata for a half-day dive itinerary. Surface intervals may offer brief views of the coastline’s sandy ledges and seagrass meadows. Divers should plan for shallow entry/exit and avoid long exposures at depth.
