San Salvador

San Salvador is a Caribbean dive site near Playa del Carmen, located in the northernYM region of Quintana Roo. The site is characterized by a shallow to moderate depth with clear turquoise water and sandy bottoms interspersed by patches of coral and rocky outcrops. Access typically involves a short boat ride from Playa del Carmen, making it a convenient option for day trips. The site commonly features a mix of small Caribbean reef fishes, damselfish, trunkfish, barracuda and occasionally sea turtles or larger pelagic species passing by, depending on conditions. The underwater topography includes gentle slopes and scattered coral heads that provide opportunities for macro seeing and light drift conditions in favorable weather. This site is suitable for divers of various levels, provided basic buoyancy control and awareness of boat traffic.
