Shangri La

Shangri La is a local dive site near Playa del Carmen, accessible from the coast within a short boat ride. The site commonly features typical Caribbean reef topography with sandy areas, coral formations, and patches of seagrass. Depths are generally shallow to moderate, making it suitable for recreational diving with clear visibility when conditions are calm. Expect a calm, sheltered environment with resident reef fish such as parrotfish, angelfish, snappers, hamlets and eels and occasional sightings of larger species along the drop-offs. Entry is typically from a beach or short boat transfer, with easy navigation along the reef edge and gentle currents. This site serves as a reliable option for drift-free dives and macro encounters around small coral formations.
