Tortugas Reef is a shallow reef dive near Playa del Carmen, offering easy access for recreational divers. The site features a sloping seabed with scattered coral heads, sponges and plenty of juvenile fish. Visibility is typically fair to good, and depths commonly range from shallow to around 18 metres, making it suitable for introductory dives and family trips. The reef presents a calm drift-free environment on calmer days and can attract a variety of tropical reef species commonly seen in the Riviera Maya, such as parrotfish, grunts, and angelfish. An easy swim-through or gentle wall sections may be encountered depending on the exact break and current conditions.
