Laguna Matata

Laguna Matata is a sheltered, shallow lagoon dive site located near Gulhi Falhu and Malé in the Maldives. Access is straightforward from local guesthouses and dive centers, with typically calm conditions suitable for most recreational divers. The site features flat sandy floors, occasional patch reefs, and clear blue water. Expect gentle slopes, mild currents, and good visibility for macro and small reef life common to Maldivian lagoons. Common sightings include reef fish, snappers, damselfish, and occasional octopus or rays in the sandy areas near channel edges. This site is well-suited to beginners and for relaxed drift dives when conditions permit.
