Gulhi Falhu

Amingiri Sandbank Reef

Amingiri Sandbank Reef is a shallow to mid-depth site off the Maldives, characteristic of wide sand flats and gentle slopes. The area features a sandy seabed with scattered patches of seagrass and small coral colonies that attract juvenile fish and reef-associated species. Access is typically by boat from Malé or nearby resorts, with conditions that are often calm and clear, making it suitable for beginner and intermediate divers. Expect soft-bottom scenery, occasional sightings of small reef fish, whiprays and reef-associated pelagics around the sandbanks, and a sense of open-water topography rather than dense reef structures. Currents are usually mild but can pick up with tides, so plan for a relaxed dive and good buoyancy control.
