Yal-Ku is a shallow reef dive site off Akumal, known for its clear, warm Caribbean waters and easy access. The site features a sandy bottom with overhanging limestone formations and healthy coral growth, providing a sheltered environment suitable for beginners and for relaxed, shallow dives. Expect calm conditions, with typical Caribbean visibility that can range from 10 to 20 meters. Marine life commonly includes a variety of reef fish, small nurse sharks or rays in some seasons, sea turtles may be sighted, and crustaceans use the limestone crevices. Entry is straightforward from shore or a short boat ride from Akumal, Chan Cheumiyl, or nearby centers, and the area is popular for guided shallow dives to observe the reef structure and resident fauna.
