Gelderland

Gelderland is an inland province of the Netherlands, with most diving centered in freshwater bodies rather than the ocean. The region’s diving character comes from rivers and lakes in the inland countryside, notably the Dommel in nearby catchment areas. Within Gelderland there are few or no sea dive opportunities, and most dive centers and sites focus on freshwater environments, training, and local exploration around urban hubs such as Nijmegen and the surrounding towns. Access is practical via road and rail, with waters typically temperate and visibility variable depending on season and weather. Divers often combine lake and river diving with drysuit and freshwater-specific training, plus local knowledge on water quality and current conditions.
