Merdeka

Merdeka is a coastal town in the Maluku region of eastern Indonesia, set along the Banda Sea in the Banda Sea/Banda arc. It doesn’t host a large dive center scene itself, but the surrounding Maluku area is known for classic wall and reef dives with rich macro life and access to remote sites by boat. With no local dive centers listed, divers typically arrange trips via nearby hubs and liveaboards that frequent the Banda Sea, focusing on drift dives, pelagic encounters, and vibrant reef communities. Given the remote location, diving access depends on charter boats from larger ports in the region, and conditions are typically tropical with good visibility and warm water, varying by season.
