Smugglers Cave

Smugglers Cave is a shallow Mediterranean dive site near Mellieħa on Malta’s northwest coast. The site centers on a sheltered, cavernous area with a swim-through that opens to a small chamber inside the reef. Depths are typically mild, with most swims staying above 20 meters, making it accessible to recreational divers with basic training. The dive offers varied topography: rocky ledges, gentle slopes and a couple of exit routes to the open lagoon. Expect typical Western Mediterranean life such as wrasse, bream, and octopus, along with the blue-green backdrop of clear Maltese waters. Currents are usually light and conditions are best on calm days.
