Saint Jean Cap Ferrat

Grotte Du Semaphoro

The Grotte du Semaphoro is a shallow coastal dive site off the French Riviera, featuring a rocky underwater cave and two nearby vertical walls. Access is straightforward from the shore or a short swim from the nearby towns, with typical conditions including clear to mildly turbid water and good visibility in calm weather. The cave passages offer interesting silhouettes and ambient light, while the surrounding rocky slopes attract common Mediterranean species such as damselfish, wrasse, and octopuses, with posidonia meadows nearby in deeper sections. Dives are suitable for experienced beginners with supervision, and for intermediate divers exploring the cave network and short penetrations. Strong currents are possible at times, so buoyancy and navigation should be solid.
