Manikata
Anchor Bay
Anchor Bay is a coastal Maltese dive site known for its sheltered conditions and easy access from the shore. The site typically features a gentle slope with rocky patches and some sheltered sandy pockets, making it suitable for beginner and refresher dives. Depending on conditions, divers may explore small caverns and swim-throughs along the rocky seabed, with intermediate sites offering a bit more depth. The Malta region often hosts a variety of Mediterranean fauna, including parrotfish, damselfish, groupers, wrasses, and moray eels, while Posidonia meadows and sponges contribute to the habitat along the bay. Entry is usually from the beach or a rocky shoreline, with visibility commonly ranging from calm to moderate and currents typically light to moderate on exposed tides. Nearby towns such as Mellieħa and Saint Paul’s Bay provide access and dive centers that support boat or shore-based excursions, depending on the day’s plan.
