Westbout

Westbout is a shallow coastal dive site near Burgh-Haamstede on the Dutch island of Schouwen-Duiveland. The site lies in the southwest part of the Zeeland coast, with easy access from nearby towns. Expect typical North Sea conditions: relatively greenish water, moderate to good visibility on calm days, and a sandy or mixed seabed. The area is known for gentle slopes and patchy vegetation rather than dramatic topography. Common small coastal species such as flatfish, gobies, and blennies may be encountered along the sand and seagrass beds, with occasional juvenile schooling fish visible in sheltered areas. Entry is straightforward from the shore or from a low boat drop, and currents are usually mild but can vary with wind. Westbout makes for a relaxed training or drift dive for experienced divers who know local conditions, with nearby towns offering access to facilities and services.
