Vallée Aux Mérous

Vallée aux Mérous is a shallow reef dive site off Saint-Paul, typically reached within a few minutes from the coast. The site features a gently sloping sandstone-like substratum turning into a series of small, rounded coral heads and sandy patches. It is known for clear water and calm conditions, making it suitable for beginner to intermediate divers. Expect common Western Indian Ocean species such as juvenile angelfish, butterflyfish, wrasses, parrotfish, and occasional moray eels sheltering in rocky crevices. The topography supports easy navigation with visible drop-offs around 8–12 meters, and easier exits from the shore reef edge. Access is straightforward from nearby coastal zones, with local dive centers in Saint-Paul and Saint-Gilles-les-Bains offering boats and shore dives.
