Punta Matese

Punta Matese is a local dive site near Isola delle Femmine, within the Palermo area of Sicily. The site is accessible from the nearby coastal towns and offers relatively shallow, straightforward conditions suitable for entry-level to intermediate divers. Divers typically explore a sloping seabed with rocky features, nearby patches of Posidonia seagrass, and several small crevices. The area is characterized by clear to moderately clear waters with Mediterranean visibility that can vary with tides and wind. Common coastal species in the western Mediterranean may include groupers, sea bream, moray eels, octopus, and various wrasses and damselfish. This site provides a practical option for a productive half-day dive near Palermo.
