Mundo Palancar

Palancar Caves

Palancar Caves is a popular Caribbean dive site known for its dramatic cavern system along the Palancar Reef. Access is typically from a shore or boat, with entry often through swim-through passages and large air-filled chambers that create dramatic light beams and silhouettes. Depths vary from shallow entries near the 6–12 meter range to deeper sections around 18–25 meters, with some routes extending farther depending on the gallery. The site features clear turquoise water, abundant reef structure, and a mix of hard corals and sponges, with common marine life such as tropical reef fish, angelfish, moray eels, and occasional turtles. Currents can be moderate, so divers should plan for buoyancy control and situational awareness. This site is widely used by training and recreational divers and is well-suited for drift or cave-style dives under appropriate supervision and training.
