San Miguel De Cozumel

La Palomita

La Palomita is a shallow coral and sandy reef site off the coast near Cozumel, suitable for easy checks of buoyancy and beginner to intermediate dives. The area features gentle slopes with patches of hard corals, soft corals and a variety of reef-associated life typical of this Caribbean scenario. Expect clear turquoise water, mild to moderate currents depending on weather, and good visibility. Access is straightforward from nearby shore or local dive centers, with entry from a sandy bottom and occasional sheltered alcoves that host juvenile fish and small reef species. The site is commonly combined with visits to nearby drifts along the outer reef on calm days. Typical inhabitants include parrotfishes, angelfish, reef damselfish, snappers and sponge gardens. It is not a deep site and makes for a relaxed, scenic dive with opportunities to observe the vibrant but calm Caribbean underwater landscape.
