El Tazón

El Tazón is a local Mediterranean dive site near Calp, Benissa and Moraira on the Costa Valenciana. It features a gentle sloping rocky bottom with varied topography including small ledges and a sandy patch. Access is straightforward from shore or a short boat ride, and conditions are typically calm in good weather with moderate visibility. The site is suitable for both drift and wall-style exploration, with entry points that allow comfortable descents to intermediate depths. Common Western Mediterranean species such as groupers, moray eels, octopus, and diverse wrasses and gobies are encountered around rocky outcrops and sea fans, with Posidonia meadows nearby in the shallows. The area benefits from proximity to popular coastal towns, making it a convenient option for a half-day dive near Calp, Benissa or Moraira.
