Scuba diving in China is mostly coastal, with conditions that change a lot by latitude. Along the South China Sea (including areas associated with Guangdong and Hong Kong), divers can expect warmer water in the right season and a mix of reef-like hard bottoms near shore and more sheltered bays; visibilities vary with weather and currents. In the Yellow Sea and the North Pacific side (with areas associated with Liaoning), the water is generally cooler and diving is more seasonal, with more emphasis on wrecks, rocky sites, and cold-water marine life rather than year-round warm-water conditions. China also has a strong “discover locally” feel: dive centers are concentrated near major coastal cities and islands, and planning around local tides, entry type (from shore vs boat), and seasonal water temperature matters. For inland diving, options are limited in this dataset.
