Banana Reef is one of Hurghada’s and the Red Sea’s most visible reef dives, famous for its shallow channels and vibrant hard corals. Situated in the northern Hurghada area, the site features a mix of shallow swim-throughs and small bommies surrounded by clear water, typically with good visibility. Terrain consists of reef shelves, with varied topography suitable for beginners and experienced divers alike, though currents can affect the approach from the open water. Common reef inhabitants include a variety of damselfish, butterflyfish, angelfish, parrotfish, and occasional reef sharks or stingrays in the area, all within easy reach for underwater photographers and macro enthusiasts. Access is straightforward from nearby shores, and dive centers in Hurghada and the Al Hadaba area often run trips here.
