Dar Es Salaam

Dar es-Salaam is Tanzania’s largest city and a key transport hub, but it isn’t a primary diving destination on its own. The city serves as a gateway to coastal and offshore diving along the Tanzanian coast and in the nearby Mnemba Atoll, Pemba, and Zanzibar, with several dive centers offering gear rental, courses, and day trips. Within the city, diving activity is limited; most options involve arranging access to seawater sites, boat departures, and filling out basic training or refresher courses before onward trips. Expect warm tropical water conditions and typical reef-associated species a short boat ride away from the mainland.
