Burien is a coastal city in Washington state and serves mainly as a gateway town for Seattle area diving. It isn’t itself a traditional dive hub, but the wider Puget Sound and nearby coastal waters offer access to wrecks, reefs, and kelp habitats via day trips from Seattle and surrounding ports. Local diving activity is limited within Burien, with most divers traveling to nearby centers or dive boats departing from Seattle, Edmonds, or Tacoma. Freshwater options are limited in the immediate area, so most training and diving choose marine environments along the regional coastline when weather and tides allow.
