Honaunau Napoopoo

Honaunau-Napoopoo is a small coastal community on the Big Island of Hawaii. It’s not a major urban dive hub, but it sits near accessible offshore reefs and lava beaches along the Kona coast. While the area is more known for cultural and heritage sites, nearby dive centers along the Kailua-Kona and South Kona coast offer boat dives to local reefs, lava tubes, and occasional wrecks. Water visibility and conditions vary seasonally; expect warm tropical water, volcanic seabed, and typical reef fish. For dedicated diving, divers usually base themselves in larger nearby towns with better swimmer access to guided dives and equipment. As a land area with limited on-site dive infrastructure, Honaunau-Napoopoo functions as a gateway point rather than a dive center heavy hub.
