Hōnaunau

Hōnaunau is a small town on the west coast of the Big Island of Hawaii. It’s a gateway area for access to nearby dive spots along the Kona coast and within easier reach of Kailua-Kona. The immediate town itself isn’t a major dive hub, but the region offers straightforward boat and shore dives with warm tropical water, clear to mildly turbid conditions, and abundant reef life a short boat ride away. With limited local centers, most diving itineraries rely on nearby operators along the Kona coast for guided dives and equipment rental. The area is best known for its scenic coastal environment and proximity to cultural sites, rather than a dense dive center scene in town.
