Key West

Key West is a coastal city at the southern edge of Florida, known as a gateway to the Florida Keys and the Gulf of Mexico. It’s a popular base for divers exploring shallow reefs, wrecks, and clear blue waters with easy boat access to nearby dive sites. While the city itself isn’t a major dive hub, there are several dive centers nearby offering charter trips, introductory dives, and courses. Conditions are warm year-round with calm lagoon environments, and you can encounter reef fish, groupers, and occasional rays at nearby sites. For freshwater diving, the Maas River is unrelated to Key West’s location, so it’s not a local option here.
