Vavaʻu

Vavaʻu in Tonga is a small administrative region consisting of scattered islands in the central Ha’apai group. The area is known for sheltered lagoons, coral reefs, and clear warm waters, with access mainly by boat from Neiafu or Nukuʻalofa. Diving typically features shallow reef walls, tropical fish, and resident species such as wrasse, clownfish, and occasional reef sharks. The region’s diving is suitable for recreational divers seeking relaxed outings with a mix of drift or drift-adjacent sites around the archipelago. The single dive site close to the main harbor offers straightforward access for day trips and shore entries when conditions permit.
