Altai Republic

The Altai Republic is a highland region in southern Siberia known for its vast steppe, mountains, and glacier-fed lakes. It is largely freshwater and landlocked, with limited diving activity outside of the few high-altitude lakes and river environments that host cold-water aquatic life. Expect clear, cold water, short seasons, and challenging conditions for divers used to alpine environments. The region’s diving relevance is modest and concentrated around select freshwater sites rather than permanent coastal dive destinations.
