San Francisco in Southern Leyte sits on the island of Leyte along the Philippine Sea and serves as a coastal gateway for local diving. The area offers access to nearby island and reef sites along the coast and in the Philippine Sea, with a couple of dive centers that run local boat trips and PADI/SSI courses. Expect warm tropical waters, generally calm conditions outside the rainy season, and typical reef-associated species. For more advanced or diverse dives, divers often day-trip to better-known sites within a few hours’ reach by boat from coastal towns in Southern Leyte and nearby Surigao provinces.
