Southland

Southland is a coastal and inland region in the far south of New Zealand. The coastline provides access to calm, cold-water coastal dives along the South Pacific, with fjord and rugged shore environments near Fiordland and Invercargill. Diving here is characterized by cool water, clear but often dim light, and opportunities to explore offshore reefs, pelagic chases, and wrecks near port towns. The region is more known for access from Invercargill and local dive centers supporting recreational diving, with a mix of shore and boat dives and a focus on temperate marine life and marine ecosystems typical of southern New Zealand.
