Pulau Pinang (Penang) is a Malay peninsula region along the Malacca Strait with coastal and island diving access through Penang Island and nearby waters. The coastal waters show typical tropical conditions with warm to hot water, moderate visibility, and usual reef-associated species; however, the region is not centered on renowned dive sites. Access is convenient from George Town and Bayan Lepas, with a mix of shore and boat access to nearby reefs and wrecks in the strait region. The diving scene is developing, featuring small operators and casual dive sites suitable for recreational divers, especially those based on Penang Island.
