Yonaguni

Yonaguni is the westernmost inhabited island of Japan, located in the Yaeyama District. While access to the area is primarily defined by its remote setting and rugged coastline, diving options exist nearby in the Yaeyama Islands and along the Amami–Tokarawa chain. There are very limited local dive services directly on Yonaguni, so most divers reach the area as part of broader itineraries in Okinawa Prefecture. Expect calm to moderate sea conditions, and potential wall and reef environments in surrounding offshore sites rather than a dense local dive scene. For divers, Yonaguni serves more as a gateway to the wider region than a self-contained dive hub.
