Izu

Izu is a coastal region in eastern Japan known for its volcanic scenery and access to clear waters along the Izu Peninsula. The area hosts several dive centers and a handful of dive sites scattered around the coast, offering boat and shore dives with typical temperate Pacific conditions. While the broader Izu region attracts divers for reef walls, kelp and rock formations, the city-level focus varies; in this case, divers often use towns on the peninsula as gateways for day trips to nearby sites. Inland, Lake Hinuma in the broader prefecture provides a freshwater option for skill practice, though it’s not a typical destination for tropical-style diving.
