Modane

Modane is a high-altitude town in the French Alps, well inland from the coast. It sits near the Italian border and is known as a gateway for outdoor adventures, including hiking and winter sports. It isn’t a diving hub since it’s far from major saltwater dive access. Nearby freshwater diving options exist only in regional lakes and quarries outside the town, with limited dive infrastructure. For divers, the city serves mainly as a base for alpine activities and for accessing nearby, more suitable diving destinations in the broader region, rather than a direct dive destination.
