Zacatecas

Zacatecas is an inland administrative region in central Mexico. It has no direct access to open coastal diving, and its waters are freshwater to brackish in most areas, with diving opportunities limited to inland cenotes or artificial environments elsewhere in the country. When planning dives in Mexico, divers typically head to coastal states such as Baja California, Sinaloa, or Veracruz for saltwater sites and notable cenotes in the Yucatán peninsula region. Within Zacatecas itself, the region’s geography is characterized by high plateau scenery rather than marine diving, making it more about travel logistics, culture, and high-altitude exploration than scuba diving. For regions with direct gulf or coastal access, nearby dive experiences would be found along the Gulf of California coast in adjacent states, not within Zacatecas.
