The Virgen

The Virgen is a local Mediterranean dive site near the towns north of Barcelona. Access is straightforward from the coastal towns of Sant Andreu de Llavaneres, Mataró and Sant Vicenç de Montalt, all within a few kilometers. The site typically features rocky seabed with modest depths and is used for reef and macro-focused dives, suitable for recreational divers with basic training. Expect typical Western Mediterranean fauna such as sea bream, wrasses, groupers, and moray eels, along with posidonia meadows in good conditions. Conditions are generally calm in sheltered bays, with visibility often moderate and currents variable depending on wind and sea state. The area is known for convenient shore entries and nearby dive centers offering equipment rental and guided dives.
