Yomitan
Tetra Mae
Tetra Mae is a local dive site near Kadena on Okinawa, offering straightforward access for shore or small-boat dives. The site sits in shallow, clear waters with typical tropical reef topography: a sandy to rubble seabed interspersed with patches of coral heads and a few rock outcrops that create gentle drop-offs. Expect calm conditions suitable for beginner to intermediate divers, with good viz often in the 10–20 m range. Marine life commonly includes reef fish such as parrotfish, wrasse, damselfish, and occasional butterflyfish, along with small groupers and moray eels around structure. Tides and currents vary by season, so plan entries and exits with local guidance. The proximity to Kadena and other central Okinawa towns makes it a convenient option for a half- to full-day dive from the coastal bases and rental centers in the area.
