Chatan
Sunabe Beach
Sunabe Beach is a shore-diving site on Okinawa’s west coast, close to the city of Chatan. The site features a gentle seafloor with sandy patches and patches of reef along the coastal shelf. Typical conditions include calm to moderate seas with good visibility in settled weather. Depths commonly range from a few metres near shore to moderate depths as you move offshore, making it accessible for recreational divers and those new to沖縄 diving. Expect a mix of hard and soft corals, schools of reef fish, moray eels, and occasional turtles in the broader reef flats. Entry is straightforward from the beach, with a gentle exit and easy navigation over the sandy-bottomed zones. Current can be light to moderate during certain tides, so plan accordingly and dive within your training and experience level.
