St. Francois

St. Francois is a local reef dive site situated off the west coast of Mauritius near Flic en Flac, Tamarin and Bambous in the Flic en Flac area. The site typically features a sloping coral reef with headlands and small channels that attract a variety of tropical reef life. Access is straightforward from the coast and dive boats generally enter from nearby beaches. Conditions are influenced by seasonal trade winds and can include moderate conditions with clear water and good visibility. Common reef inhabitants include a variety of damselfish, wrasse, clownfish, parrotfish, trumpetfish, and curious trumpets, snappers and moray eels around crevices; occasional larger species may pass through. As a sheltered, beginner-friendly site, St. Francois offers pleasant depth ranges suitable for entry-level and recreational dives, with typical depths around a few to several meters over shallow reef flats extending to deeper fringe along the drop-offs.
