Trincomalee
South Reef
South Reef is a shallow to mid-depth reef site off Trincomalee. The reef forms a broad, sunlit crest with laterally expanding coral heads and a mix of hard corals and soft patches. Access is straightforward from the local coast, and typical conditions include calm surface with gentle drift possible along the outer edge. Expect a straightforward dive with good visibility and a variety of tropical reef life, including small schools of damselfish, fusiliers, parrotfish, groupers, moray eels, and occasional reef sharks in deeper sections. The site suits beginner to intermediate divers and offers easy navigation along the reef’s structure with ample space for buoyancy practice and macro glimpses of invertebrates.
