Saint Paul
Sankuba
Sankuba is a coastal dive site in Saint-Paul, off Réunion Island. The site lies in shallow to moderate depths typical of fringing coral reef environments, with sheltered conditions near the reef crest. The underwater landscape features a combination of coral heads, bommies, and sandy patches that host a variety of reef fish and invertebrates. Access is straightforward from local shore or short boat rides, making it suitable for beginners and divers building skills, while offering interesting macro and drift possibilities along the reef edge. Typical species include wrasse, clownfish, damselfish, parrotfish, angelfish, occasional reef sharks, moray eels, and an active invertebrate life with spiny lobsters and sea urchins. Entry and exit are usually calm, with clear water visibility common in good weather; always check local conditions and currents before diving.
