Punta Priola, Sicilia

Punta Priola is a local Sicilian dive site near Palermo, offering shallow coastal diving in the north-western approach to the Gulf of Castellammare. The site features a gently sloping seafloor with rocky blocks and patches of Posidonia sea grass, typical of the Sicilian littoral. Expect clear, temperate waters with modest current at times and good visibility on calm days. Common Mediterranean species such as wrasse, damselfish, octopus, and groupers are encountered around rocky ledges and crevices. Access is straightforward from the nearby coastline, with easy entry from small beaches or rocky shore and a short boat hop from Palermo's area. The site is suitable for beginners and for practice dives, and is commonly used for short recreational dives or check-out sessions.
